Say the words, Barbershop Quartet, and what comes to mind; Bicycle Built for Two, early 1900’s music, the Music Man musical?  Well, for the members of the international Barbershop Harmony Society, headquartered in Nashville Tennessee, barbershop is a special unaccompanied “vocal sound”.   That’s also the true love of the Coalition Quartet!

Take a lyrical and singable melody (think Philly street singers of the fifties) add a tight harmonic tenor sound (think Everly Brothers) and blend it with a strong low bass (think Gospel quartet) and you’ve almost got it.  Support that bass man with the unique baritone harmony that says barbershop and you are there.

It's always that "sound" that keeps the guys engaged and makes a barbershop quartet special!
